Pointless Celebrity Debate

In a pointlessly reported argument Paul McCartney has been all over the press having said very little against Gordon Ramsay who has in turn said nothing new about vegetarians but managed to court the controversey required to maintain his elevated profile as this generation’s Fanny Craddock.

The meatismurder crew having nothing against cooks. Taking ingredients and turning them into a meal to be enjoyed by loved ones, friends…activists, is a great skill to be admired, but we do believe that for tv chefs and their pornographic love of braising and frying body parts to be so reveared is just plain weird.

It is just a pity that despite all the reported environmental and health risks of animal based diets (see this site!), the future strife over food security (see future articles on this site) to be caused by Western animal based diets, and the love of the British, Americans, Canadians and god knows who else for animals with the right fluff to floppy ear ratio  people are still chowing down on cadavers and vegetarians/vegans are being reported as a fringe voice standing against the mainstream.

Anyway, please see below for the pointless debate
(from the Daily Mail).

Sir Paul McCartney has criticised Gordon Ramsay - calling the TV chef ’stupid’. Ramsay, 41, has angered the ex-Beatle, 66, with his outspoken comments against vegetarians.

The foul-mouthed chef has annoyed the music legend by saying he could not tolerate it if one of his three daughters came home with a vegetarian boyfriend.

Kitchen Nightmares star Ramsay said recently: ‘If one of my daughters’ boyfriends turns out to be vegetarian I swear to God I’d never forgive them.’
In another tirade, he said: ‘My biggest nightmare would be if the kids ever came up to me and said “Dad, I’m a vegetarian”. Then I would sit them on the fence and electrocute them.’

Sir Paul, who has not eaten meat for 30 years, told Sainsbury’s Magazine: ‘I think it’s a case of live and let live.

‘I will talk to people about the advantages of vegetarianism, and it will upset me if we’ve had a good conversation and they turn around and say something stupid.

‘I just read a quote from Gordon Ramsay… “If my daughter ever grew up and married a vegetarian, I’d never forgive her.”

‘But even that I would forgive because it’s not my affair, it’s not up to me if he talks stupid or not.’

The music legend, whose youngest daughter Beatrice, four, is vegan, said: ‘I’d be happier if everyone was vegetarian. The planet would be better off for it.’
In Ramsay’s Channel 4 show The F Word, the chef persuaded 50 vegetarians to feast on Janet Street-Porter’s recently butchered veal.

In July, outraged animal welfare groups accused Ramsay of employing shock tactics to gain publicity after he was seen on the show killing and eating puffins.

In another outburst against vegetarians, Ramsay told Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole when she appeared on the show: ‘Didn’t you get the message? Vegetarians aren’t welcome here.’

Models wear meat

Murdering animals in terrifying conditions because people have not realised what goes on in their name is something we are all sadly used to. People are unaware of or scared of alternatives and so continue to eat the products of the mass production meat industry. Using animals in entertainment is again something that we are sadly all used to seeing. But to combine these two practices and use bodies as clothes for a vapid entertainment show seems like a lurch even further away from any form of natural order.
And yet that is what happended on the 2008 series of ‘America’s Next Top Model’.

Milk Argument in Wales

School children in Wales have been given a one-sided argument by CIWF, who have so much to obviously gain in campaigning against milk, but the balance will be righted by the Farmers’ Union of Wales with their unbiased, non-vested interest take on the argument.

THE Farmers’ Union of Wales is to speak to schoolchildren about the benefits of drinking cows’ milk.

Yesterday the Daily Post reported how Ysgol Dinas Bran in Llangollen apologised after pupils were given a talk by pressure group Compassion in World Farming, encouraging them to give up drinking cows’ milk – in favour of soya.

Farmer Trefor Lloyd Jones was angry that pupils, including his son Alun, 13, were given a one-sided argument.

School head Alison Duffy apologised and said the lesson had taken place without permission from her.

Now the Farmers Union of Wales (FUW) is being brought in to talk to the children and give them the other side of the story.

FUW Denbigh County Executive Officer Gareth Wyn Jones said: “After reading an article in the Daily Post I decided to speak to the headmistress Alison Duffy to ask if representatives of the union could speak to the same class.

“I am glad the school has accepted our offer and a representative from the FUW’s milk and dairy produce committee and myself will be giving a talk at the school about farming, with particular emphasis on milk production.”

Anglesey dairy farmer Eifion Huws, chairman of the FUW’s milk and dairy produce committee, said: “I am very pleased that representatives from the union will now have a chance to express our side of the story.

“For many schoolchildren, especially those who live in low income families, their only regular source of calcium comes from their daily supply of milk.”

Robot Rights

(article suggested by meatismurder reader)  Research papers are looking to the future and developing ‘Robot Rights’. Yes, before sentient machines are even invented we are going to start thinking about their rights before we grant rights to the sentient creatures we already share the planet with.

One of a collection of forward thinking research papers organised by Sir David King, the UK government’s chief scientist, has suggested that once sentient robots have been created they will have to be given the same rights as humans. The paper looked at Britain in 2056 and suggested that fully sentient robots would be commonplace by that time. It was written by UK management consultancy Outsights and pollsters Ipsos Mori.

It postulates that if true artificial intelligence is achieved the creation should be accorded the same rights and responsibilities as humans. These would include voting, paying tax and performing military duties. “If granted full rights, states will be obligated to provide full social benefits to them including income support, housing and possibly robo-healthcare to fix the machines over time,” the paper says. The effects would be largely beneficial in terms of productivity but could cause problems with energy and waste, according to the scientists.
