Tues 1st Nov – World Vegan Day!!! There will be an information stall and free food giveaway on Fargate (probably opposite M&S) from 11am. Please email if you can help out with the stall and/or make food to give away!
Sat 5th Nov – To mark the 10th anniversary of Barry Horne’s death, there will be a march around Huntingdon followed by a demo at Huntingdon Life Sciences, a major animal testing laboratory. There will be 3 Cars going, so email if you’d like a lift!
Mon 7th Nov – Our next monthly meeting at New Roots, 347 Glossop Road. 6.30pm – 8pm.
Sat 12th Nov – Vegan catering at LaDIYfestLaDIYfest (an inclusive, DIY, anti-capitalist, community-based feminist festival) at Croft House, Garden St, S1 4BJ from 1pm (come along then if you want to help with preparing food) various workshops going on from 1.30pm, goes on ’til 7pm (so evening meal prep help needed too). Followed by gig from 7pm – late at The Redhouse, 168 Solly St, S1 4BB.
Sat 12th Nov – Stall selling Animal Aids purple poppies to remember the animal victims of war on Fargate in the afternoon.
Sun 13th Nov – Vegan catering at LaDIYfest at the Rutland Arms, 86 Brown Street, S1 2BS from 1pm – 8.30pm.with acoustic acts, film, quiz etc
Sun 13th Nov – Purple poppy wreath laying to remember animals killed in war at the Remembrance Day service. Please meet at 10.30am at the top corner of John Lewis’s at Barkers Pool if you’d like to be part of this.
Mon 14th Nov – Protest against SRCL in Leeds, who incinerate the beagles who are ‘waste’ products of breeding for vivisection at Harlan Interfauna, from 12.00pm details here
Wed 16th Nov – Protest Leeds Uni beagle experiments – Animal Aid demo in Leeds starting at 1.30pm – 4.30pm, more details here
Sat 19th Nov – Animal Aid day of action for victims of charity campaign stall opposite Co-op in front of the Peace Gardens from 11am – 2/3pm. Please join the efforts to urge people not to donate to organisations such as Cancer Research UK and the British Heart Foundation etc who continue to support/fund wasteful and cruel tests on animals which are bad for humyns and animals alike.
Sun 20th Nov – French style SAF vegan brunch to raise a bit of money for the group, £4 suggested donation from 11am – 1pm, please get in touch if you’d like to attend and to be given the address where it’s being held.
Mon 21st Nov – Action For Greyhounds collection on Barkers Pool from 10am – 4pm, please come along to help with this collection as we have a permit for it and there will be plenty of pots to shake! There’s also a ‘meat-free Monday’ at Shef Uni as part of Ethical & Environmental Knowledge awareness week so there may also be a SAF presence or if not the Uni Veg Soc (possibly alongside Abundance who’ll be giving away free, locally grown fruit). So look out for confirmation and if you think you might be free to help around lunch time /early afternoon get in touch.
Sat 26th Nov – White ribbon charity football tournament – Come and support the vegan team who’s taking part/spread a little vegan awareness/help this worthwhile project to campaign to end violence against women and raise money for local sexual and domestic abuse organisations. From 12pm – 6pm at Goals Sheffield, 95 Norfolk Park Road, S2 2RU
Sat 26th Nov – Viva!’s Incredible Veggie Roadshow in Liverpool – If you fancy travelling instead volunteers are still needed for this event.
Sat 26th Nov – National anti fur demo in London – Roving demos against various fur sellers in the capital to combat this vile trade.
Sun 27th Nov – Xmas open day with stalls/competitions/Santa’s grotto/food at Brinsley Animal Rescue (sanctuary near Nottingham run by vegans) from 11am – 4pm, £1 entry (kids get in free with an adult).
Mon 28th Nov – Vegan info and (possible) free food stall to promote world vegan month (and having a cruelty-free Xmas) from 11am – 2/3pm opposite M&S on Fargate. If you can help out or even better make some food to give away on the day then please get in touch.
Sat 3rd Dec – Rolling fur demos in Manchester, a car will be going to help out MAA in their campaign against fur sellers in their city. Look out for details of time and pick-up point to come and please get in touch if you’d like a space in the car or you might be able to drive in another vechicle if there’s enough people wanting to go.
Mon 5th Dec – Monthly SAF meeting downstairs at New Roots, 347 Glossop Road, S10 2HP from 6.30pm – 8pm (please come a little earlier if you’d like to buy some food from the shop), if you arrive later please knock loudly on the door or ring someone so you can be let in.
