October 11

Sat 8th October – Greyhound racing demonstration at Owlerton Stadium. (Penistone Road, S6 2DE) 6.30pm demonstration for a 7.30pm race start. If you would like to meet at the Sheffield University tram stop at 6pm, let us know by email and someone will meet you there.

Sun 9th October – Dog walking at Mill House Animal Sanctuary. Email if you would like to go and to arrange to meet others. The address is The Mill House, Mayfield Road, Fulwood. S10 4PR. 0114 230 2907 and they are open 9am – 3.00pm daily.

Sun 9th October – Badger Sett protection with the South Yorkshire Badger Group. A badger sett in Doncaster that has been targeted by badger baiters will be reinforced with metal mesh to prevent badger baiters from digging into the sett. A van will pick up from the City Hall and the General Cemetery and leave Sheffield at 9.45am. Please email sheffieldsaboteurs@live.co.uk if you would like to go along.

Monday 10th October – Planning meeting for the food fair. Meet at New Roots, 347 Glossop Road, at 6.30pm.

Sat 15th October – Animal Aid stall on Fargate at 11am. Please email if you can help!

Sat 15th October – Sheffield Free School, a space for the free sharing of skills, ideas and knowledge. 10am-7.30pm at Creative Arts Development Space, 7 Smithfield, Shalesmoor, St. Vincents Quarter, Sheffield S3 7AR. SAF will be catering for the event so please get in touch if you can help with the cooking!!

Sun 16th October – Russian themed vegan brunch to raise funds for the group. 11am-1pm, £4 a head. Please email if you plan to come to give us an idea of how much food to make and to give you the address!

Sun 16th October – International day of action against McDonalds. We will hold a demonstration after brunch (see above), if you’d like to meet us there get in touch and we’ll arrange to meet you!

Sat 22nd October – To celebrate SAF’s 5th birthday we will be going for a meal at Dhanistha’s! Which is a south Indian restaurant at 74 Abbeydale Road, S7 1FD. Meal at 7pm. Email if you plan to come so we can book it.

Sun 23rd October – Allotment Soup at LEAF Community Allotments, Herries Road, Sheffield. 1pm-7pm. An annual creative and artistic harvest celebration of food growing and allotment culture.

Sat 29th October – Midlands Vegan Festival in Wolverhampton. There will be a car driving to the event and they are in need of volunteers to help so please email if you’d like to help and/or if you’d like a lift!
